*2 Timothy 4:5*

"But you should keep a clear mind in every situation. Don't be afraid of suffering for the Lord. Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you."
~2 Timothy 4:5~

(5) But watch thou in all things.—“But do thou,” continued St. Paul, “do thou be watchful.” The Greek word translated “watch thou,” signifies literally,be sober. It has been well paraphrased, “Keep thy coolness and presence of mind, that thou be not entrapped into forgetfulness, but as one ever wakeful and ready, be on the watch.” The word, as it were, sums up all those last directions of St. Paul, from 2Timothy 2:14, in which St. Paul charged Timothy to abstain from vain arguments and confine himself to the simple word of truth, to avoid discussions which would be likely to lead to strife, and to be patient and gentle with all—to separate himself from merely nominal Christians, and to keep steadily to the old paths in which the Apostles had walked. He was to be ever watchful in all these things.
Endure afflictions.—And in his watch must Timothy be ready to suffer. He would remember what had been said before respecting a true Christian suffering (2Timothy 2:3-12), and what was the high reward purposed for such brave endurance. He would remember, too, the hard and faithful life of his master, St. Paul (2Timothy 3:10-12).
Do the work of an evangelist.—The “evangelists” of the early Church seem to have been preachers of the Gospel: in the first place, assistants to the Apostles and missionaries under their direction. The especial functions of a preacher and public teacher seem always to have been allotted to Timothy, and, no doubt, a peculiar persuasive power of oratory was one of the chief gifts conferred on this eminent follower of St. Paul. In the midst of the many grave and absorbing duties of his charge of the Ephesian Church, he must be mindful not to neglect this great power which he possessed. It is here especially termed “the work of an evangelist,” to remind him that to perform rightly this duty, needed zeal, close work, much study, thought, and prayer; and it was by worthily performing the duties of an evangelist that the many who were turning from the truth to fables, would be best won back, by hearing the great facts of the Gospel placed side by side with the tables of the false teachers.
Make full proof of thy ministry.—In other words, “Fully carry out the many duties imposed upon thee by thy great office.” The office of Timothy, it should be remembered, in Ephesus, included far more than merely those of a preacher or evangelist. He was the presiding presbyter of the Church, to whom its government was intrusted: in fact, the many-sided life of St. Paul was now to be lived by Timothy.

* THE KINGDOM *

Luke 13:22Jesus went through the towns and villages, teaching as he went, always pressing on toward Jerusalem. 23Someone asked him, “Lord, will only a few be saved?”
He replied, 24“Work hard to enter the narrow door to God’s Kingdom, for many will try to enter but will fail. 25When the master of the house has locked the door, it will be too late. You will stand outside knocking and pleading, ‘Lord, open the door for us!’ But he will reply, ‘I don’t know you or where you come from.’26Then you will say, ‘But we ate and drank with you, and you taught in our streets.’ 27And he will reply, ‘I tell you, I don’t know you or where you come from. Get away from me, all you who do evil.’

-  Why will many fail to enter the Kingdom?
-  What door is being locked?  Where else does Jesus talk about the door being locked?  Hint think about the 10 virgins.
-  What is going on the other side of the locked door?
-  What is the key to being let into the kingdom?  Think about us being married to Jesus and how that happens.

* JOY * SEEING GOD AT WORK IN YOUR LIFE *

Be joyful today by seeing God at work in your life.  Here is what Jesus said:
 John 16:23
“In that day you will not question Me about anything. Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask the Father for anything in My name, He will give it to you. 24
“Until now you have asked for nothing in My name; ask and you will receive, so that your joy may be made full.

Begin standing on the word and asking in faith believing that your joy may be full by seeing the mighty working of God in your life.   Have a blessed day.    Gordon

* URGENCY OF CHOICES *

The Lord’s commission is an urgent commission because it is a matter of eternal life and death. Time is short and hell is forever, which makes the Christian’s business an urgent business. And yet so many Christians are distracted by something as evil and as wasteful as pornography. Their attention is arrested, their energy depleted, their usefulness undermined. Don Whitney says it well: “If there are any regrets in Heaven, they will only be that we did not use our earthly time more for the glory of God and for growth in His grace. If this is so, this may be Heaven’s only similarity with hell, which will be filled with agonizing laments over time so foolishly squandered.” For the sake of your mission, stop looking at pornography.

Don't accept wavering bro. I understand the struggle, and the falling at times but don't allow wavering to become a lifestyle and don't give in. The Bible says resist the devil and he will flee. It doesn't tell you how long or at what point he will flee, so you have to keep pushing bro. With GOD all things are possible.

* 2 Corinthians 6:2 *

"For he says, 'In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.' [Isaiah 49:8] I tell you, now is the time of God's favor, now is the day of salvation."

~2 Corinthians 6:2~

Ministers of the gospel should look upon themselves as God's servants, and act in every thing suitably to that character.

The apostle did so, by much patience in afflictions, by acting from good principles, and by due temper and behaviour. Believers, in this world, need the grace of God, to arm them against temptations, so as to bear the good report of men without pride; and so as to bear their reproaches with patience. They have nothing in themselves, but possess all things in Christ. Of such differences is a Christian's life made up, and through such a variety of conditions and reports, is our way to heaven; and we should be careful in all things to approve ourselves to God. The gospel, when faithfully preached, and fully received, betters the condition even of the poorest. They save what before they riotously spent, and diligently employ their time to useful purposes. They save and gain by religion, and thus are made rich, both for the world to come and for this, when compared with their sinful, profligate state, before they received the gospel.

Mars Hill Church (2008) - Pastor Mark Driscoll answers a very personal question, 'Of all the things you teach, what parts of Christianity do you still wrestle with? What's hardest for you to believe?' and his answer is simple (or complex): grace. This videos is part of Driscoll's 'Religion Saves" series.

*5 Things I’ve Learned By Being A Dad (For Two Weeks)*

2) Like most people I have a tendency to have good bible reading time in the morning (with a great cup of black coffee of course) & then once I leave that time feel like I am leaving what I learned or read. But with a baby, I’m learning to lean on the Spirit every second of every day. Tiredness, emotions, etc cause me to be in absolute surrender on the Spirit present in that very moment. He has strength for us, He just asks us to lean in harder.http://jeffbethke.com/5-things-ive-learned-by-being-a-dad-for-two-weeks

A Special Morning

KJ was playing with me in the morning
I opened the door and said BOO and he laughed
Kids walking in - full of joy
HC hands me something she drew me
AE hands me a coloring sheet
AE bows and says konichiwa
KM says chesht
I told you all that if you get on flower or above, you will get to a take a planter and soil home and plant a flower in the pot so you can grow it and plant it outside once the seeds sprout
Mrs. Ware came in and gave me a hug this morning and said my card made her day. She called her sister and told her, "Listen to what card I got."
I told her, "I appreciate you," and she said, "No, I appreciate YOU," and she pointed at me.
That made my day and it has barely even started yet.

* Non-judgment *

"Do not judge people by the scriptures of their faith or the scars from their past, embrace them by the context of their hearts"

Embrace people by the context of their hearts.
"The magic comes when other people feel and see your optimism and excitement about your project, which makes similar circuits in their brain resonate to yours. If they have the time, energy, and mutual interest, they will be neurologically inclined to join forces with you, or at least support you and give you helpful advice.

The longer you focus (i.e. meditate) on your goal, the more real it begins to feel, and if you stay focused long enough, you'll alter the neural circuitry in your brain.

* Friend's Sermon Notes *

Passion is your commitment to never quit. At the end we want our Father to say, "Well done good and faithful servant"....you cannot please God without walking into darkness and that means walking by faith....(Matthew 26)...everything you do has to be out of obedience....i'm going to do what God says and walk by faith...passionate about what God has given....love your enemies while they are in the very act of attacking you...they cannot stop the plan of God unless you are obedient...living with passion means voluntarily walking into situations that cause pain..(Hebrews 12)....many people live to avoid pain...when pain comes into my life it will produce patience and righteousness in my life...what God wants to do in you and through you....100% of the time, there is a blessing on the other side....(John 18:12)....it's not about us doing what we want to do....God will give you supernatural power for a specific reason, and when you don't use it...God will not bless you...(Matthew 25-God is the bomb!)

"I've been trying to read 5 Psalms a day lately (if you read five you'll get through the whole book every month. I've missed a few though so maybe 40 days for me lol) and I've been ridiculously struck with just how candid David is. The transparency, the vulnerability, the angst. One psalm he's lamenting, one he's praising, and sometimes he's doing both in the very same psalm! They read like a cry from the depths. Reminded me we don't need to talk formally to God like an eternal professor. If we have Jesus we have the Spirit that can cry abba (daddy). Pour out your heart before [Him]. Every morning let him fully in. No hiding. In the rawness, that's when grace really starts to flood in."

* More Blessed to Give than Receive *

Written by a dear friend in Christ.

----

December 26th 2010.

I believe you first need to learn how to receive to truly know how to give.

It is indeed humbling to be dependant. In order to receive you have to come to a place where you can’t do it on your own. Your ability to freely receive dictates your ability to freely give. It takes humility to receive the gift of Jesus. The gift of a savior. In order to do so you first need to confess your need for a savior. That you can no longer save yourself.

I think some of the most lonely people in this world have lost their ability to receive. Love, help, etc. They are hardened. If you can’t receive, how can you give? We have only what God has given to us, what we’ve received from Him to give. We have not accumulated or obtained these things on our own. It’s all a gift. Life is a gift.

Throughout this trip, I have been completely dependent on God to provide… but I really needed to learn how to receive. It’s much easier to do things on our own. But receiving takes humility. Countless people have joined hands with me through prayer, or have offered a hand through opening the doors of their home, opening their wallets, or by giving me one of their possessions to meet my area of need. I can tell you one thing- the majority of these people were strangers. Strangers that are now my co-workers; my friends; my family. And some, I may never see again on this earth.

There has been so much love shown to me. And to think- I would have missed out had I chosen to throw in the towel and not go- or had I chosen to give up prematurely- to quit.

It has not by any means been “easy”. That’s not even a question. It has required perseverance even through apparent failures. Even through feelings of rejection at times- which by the way- are all lies from satan.

Many times I faced doubt, insecurity, rivalry, pain- but in those times, I had to choose to fix my thoughts on things above. Whatever is pure, noble, trustworthy, good, TRUE. I had to meditate on God’s word that says, “ I will never fail you, I will never abandon you” (Hebrews).

I suppose the message that I am trying to get across to you today is that we NEED God. We NEED each other. If we are able to receive from God, to rest in His arms, to receive His love, His provision, His comfort, His words, His commands, His truth.. And if we are able to receive from others.. Then we will be better equipped and prepared to give- love, provision, comfort, truth.

From traveling, so many people that I’ve met- Christians and Non-Christians alike- have said, “Someone once did this for me, so I want to do it for you. When we learn to receive, we learn to give.

This trip has taught me so much about the importance of hospitality and generosity through the times when I was humbled and in need.

It is our responsibility as believers because we have freely received, to freely give. But we must first learn how to receive so that we actually have something to give.

We need to stop trying to do things on our own, STOP, and receive strength from God. Receive the gifts that God has freely given us. Receive His promises for our lives. Receive His love.

Wow. Why is it more difficult for us to receive?

Because it takes humility. We need to NEED God. We need Him to fill us- so that we can pour out.

I want to be a receiver, so that I can be a giver.

After all, it is more blessed to give than to receive.

* Racism/Stereotypes*

This was inspired by a sister in Christ's reflections on her missionary-radical-living time in South Africa:

It really made me think-- those stereotypes we perpetuate and attempts to promote "safety" are often rooted in appearance- skin color. But rather, it is about evil intentions, not color. The Spirit will let us feel one thing over another, but we when approach life with our pure minds and steretypes therein, we are not living in love! But judgment, racism etc. Hence, I think your ending wraps it up nicely~ "PERFECT LOVE casts out ALL FEAR. So let’s start being on the offense with love, rather than attempting to defend ourselves with fear. It really doesn’t work."

* Love - Bizzle *

HOW DO YOU RESPOND TO LOVE??? As selfish beings we often take advantage of LOVE in our relationships. The more someone LOVES us, the more we tend to abuse the LOVE. The more forgiving the person is, the more we mess them over hoping that they will forgive us one more time. The more available they make themselves, the less valuable we treat their time. The more they give, the more we take. It seems, we end up being the same way in our relationship with GOD. We know HE will keep forgiving, so we keep sinning. We keep doing the things that push HIM away knowing HE will never leave us nor forsake us. We know that HE can't lie, so we throw HIS promises back in HIS face repeatedly while lying repeatedly and never holding up our end of the covenant. The GOD of this WHOLE UNIVERSE makes HIMSELF so available to us that in response, we rarely make time for HIM. Despite that, HE continues to give and we continue to take. HE calls out to us constantly, but we only call HIM when we need something. We take and take and take, while being under the impression that we are in this "give and take" relationship. It's GOD who gets the short end of the stick in the relationship every time, yet HE STILL loves to be in relationship with us. HE STILL loves us unconditionally, HE STILL continues to forgive us, and HE IS STILL there every time we call. GOD'S love for us has never been on trial. It's our love for HIM that proves questionable quite often. As The BRIDE OF CHRIST, I think it's time that we start taking our vows more seriously. Let's start responding to Love......with Love. HE deserves it. You will fall short.....you will not be perfect, but HE deserves your best. GOD bless you!!!

* Abandonment *

"Heavenly quest for total abandonment to the will of God."

* Testimony of Victory *

Last night,
I was physically and spiritually attacked throughout my sleep. There came a point around midnight where I felt pressure on my chest, as if someone's arms were grabbing my chest and pushing me down. I started choking, afraid for a second I would lose breath, and then an image of a dark cloud flickering ran through my mind. Then I said, in my tired sleepy voice,

"Devil flee, in Jesus Name!"

Immediately, the pressure left my church, the image disappeared, and I sat up and thanked God. I opened the Word, began reading on the page my bookmark was on, put on worship music, and fell back asleep.

The attacks continued in my dreams, but I give them all up to God to deal with. He saved me last night. I felt His grace, and I claimed the victory I have in Him.

Such a breakthrough, Lord. THANK YOU for Your answered prayers of helping me claim the amazing victory I have in You. Thank You for Your nature. You are so powerful, holy, good.

I love You. Thank You, Jesus for Your cross. Today, we remember that day you resurrected and beat the grave, beat the enemy, beat sin. Just like you showed me in the depths of the night.

LOVE!!!

“Two people can accomplish more than twice as much as one; they get a better return for their labor. If one person falls, the other can reach out and help. But people who are alone when they fall are in real trouble. A person standing alone can be attacked and defeated, but two can stand back-to-back and conquer. Three are even better, for a triple-braided cord is not easily broken.”

Isaiah 60:1-6
New International Version (NIV)
The Glory of Zion

60 “Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the Lord rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.
3 Nations will come to your light,
and kings to the brightness of your dawn.
4 “Lift up your eyes and look about you:
All assemble and come to you;
your sons come from afar,
and your daughters are carried on the hip.
5 Then you will look and be radiant,
your heart will throb and swell with joy;
the wealth on the seas will be brought to you,
to you the riches of the nations will come.
6 Herds of camels will cover your land,
young camels of Midian and Ephah.
And all from Sheba will come,
bearing gold and incense
and proclaiming the praise of the Lord.

*My holy fear*

Let us greatly fear the doom denounced on the barren fig-tree.

Matthew.

*I need to TRUST YOU*

Lord,
Oh how I need to trust You more. With every aspect of my life. That you will guide me in what to do. What to say. What to wear. What to eat. The babysteps and the big leaps, Lord. First, God, let me depend on You for the moment-by-moment actions. Build my trust there. Then, take me deeper with you. Take me to dependency on You in EVERY area of life! To rely on Your counsel for guiding the big decisions.

God, You are so faithful. May I claim your faithfulness. I CALIM YOUR FAITHFULNESS NOW. Lord, You will meet my needs. You see my heart. You are with me every moment. You bless me so much. Lord, help me stay focused on my amazing blessings. Help me fix my heart on You. On the joy You provide. To admonish You for loving me. For how much You bless us all.

"It is finished." We have been redeemed. Now, I only need to pray to You, submit myself completely, and receive Your amazing grace by faith through the Holy Spirit. Lord, reign Your Spirit down on me. I need you SO MUCH. My heart and flesh cry out. I need you, Lord. Please see me. And meet me. Here. Now. I wait for You. I am in no rush. My life is Yours. My time is Yours. It is all borrowed. It is all a blessing. It all comes from You. Continue to properly align my perspective with Yours. Continue to make me more and more and more and more like You! That is my DEEPEST desire.

Shed off my sin and discontentment, my lack of trust and anxiety, my greed and my envy, my selfishness and my fleshly weakness. Exchange it for

Deep deep faith and connection with You, continual presence in Your Presence, wisdom for life, trust in You and Your promises and Word, freedom from fear and anxiety, a mind that is sound and full of love, Jesus. Please help me PUT YOU FIRST all the time. Break away these chains and pain in my heart. And make me more and more like You. There is peace in Your Presence. Lord, You desire that for me. I am not a victim. I am a saved and redeemed woman of God!!

Thank you JESUS!! I love You.

Rewire my brain.

1st post in the midst of need - *A Joyful Heart*

MY HEART'S CRY - LORD, HELP ME!

A cheerful, contented disposition enables a men to resist the attacks of disease, the mind, ms every one knows, having most powerful influence over the body. Ecclus. 30:22, "The gladness of the heart is the life of man, and the joyfulness of a man prolongeth his days." A broken spirit drieth the bones; destroys all life and vigour (comp. Proverbs 3:8; Psalm 22:15; Psalm 32:4). We all remember the distich -

"A merry heart goes all the day,
Your sad tires in a mile-a." So the rabbis enjoin, "Give ears no room in thine heart, for care hath killed many" (Dukes, p. 68). Religious gladness is a positive duty, and "low spirits," as Isaac Williams says, "are a sin." Asks the Greek moralist -

Ἄρ ἐστὶ συγγενές τι λύπη καὶ βίος And Lucretius (3:473) affirms -

"Nam dolor ac morbus leti fabricator uterque est."
"Workers of death are sorrow and disease."

Gill's Exposition of the Entire Bible

A merry heart doth good like a medicine,.... Does the body good, makes it healthful and vigorous. Cheerfulness of spirit has a great influence upon the body, and much contributes to the health and welfare of it; see Ecclesiastes 9:7; and especially a heart full of spiritual joy, peace of conscience, flowing from the blood of Christ, joy in the Holy Ghost, a rejoicing in Christ Jesus and his righteousness, and in hope of the glory of God, much affect even the outward man. Or, "a merry heart makes a good medicine" (x); it is a good medicine of itself; raises the spirits, invigorates the body, and fits it for service and business: or, "does a medicine good" (y); makes that operate kindly, and to a good purpose: or, as Jarchi, makes the countenance shine well, makes a serene countenance; which Schultens approves, and, from the use of the word in the Arabic language, confirms;

but a broken spirit drieth the bones; a spirit broken with sorrow, whether on spiritual or temporal accounts; as it weakens the nerves, it dries up the marrow in the bones, and emaciates the body, and reduces it to a skeleton: the joy or grief of the mind, those passions of the soul, have a very great influence upon the body, either for its good or hurt.

(x) "cor hilare bonam facit sanationem", Michaelis. (y) So R. Joseph Kimchi; "bonificat sive meliorem reddit medicinam", some in Valablus; "bene medicinam facit", Junius & Tremellius, Piscator.

Jamieson-Fausset-Brown Bible Commentary

22. (Compare Pr 14:30; 15:13). The effect of the mind on the body is well known.

medicine—or, "body," which better corresponds with "bone."

drieth—as if the marrow were exhausted.
